Meet the Team

Robert Reierson

President & CEO

Robert Reierson is the CEO and president of Tradex and has spearheaded innovation here since the company’s beginning in 1990. You probably recognize him from our weekly 3 Minute Market Insight webcasts. The seafood industry is deeply ingrained in Rob’s roots, from working on vessels to processing plants to sales and purchasing – everyone knows who to ask for seafood intel.

Originally from Vancouver B.C., Rob hopped around the province before settling in Victoria in 1982. An avid traveller, Rob has been to over 30 countries and visited 35 of the 50 U.S. States.

Ken Radcliffe

VP of Corporate Development

Ken Radcliffe is the VP of Corporate Development at Tradex Foods and is a die-hard Toronto Maple Leaf’s Fan. One of our veterans, Ken has been with Tradex Foods since May 2001. Before his transfer to Victoria, Ken was a Sales Manager with PBG.

Ken grew up in St. Boniface Manitoba and moved around several times before settling in Victoria in 2001. Full of positivity, Ken likes to say that “life is like a bowl of bits and bites. Put your hand in and enjoy each flavour of each item you get.”

Mike Warren

VP of Quality Control

Mike Warren is the VP of Quality Control at Tradex Foods, prior to being an invaluable member of our Purchasing team. The office Go-To for scientific fish names and species knowledge, Mike has been in the seafood industry since 1971.

Originally from Red Deer Alberta, Mike has been with Tradex since 2000 and he still surprises us with his seafood knowledge to this day. Mike has been told that he is much taller on the phone than in person!

Michael Ho

IT Operations & Digital Media

Mike Ho is our Technology Manager and swears by “turning it off and on first” for all IT problems. Since his start in January 2010, Mike has been the cornerstone of innovation at Tradex, creating the 3 Minute Market Insight, Digital Marketing & Social Media, and our seafood portal TradexLIVE.

Originally from Richmond B.C., Mike worked for various IT consulting firms before moving to Victoria in 2006 for work and a change of pace from the Vancouver lifestyle. If Mike didn’t pursue a career in the Seafood Industry, he would have been the Deadmau5.

Rob McNutt

North America Seafood Purchaser

Rob McNutt moved into our Seafood Buying department after managing accounts at Tradex for four years. Prior to his start at Tradex in 2010, Rob worked with Trade Shows and Event Services.

Originally from Toronto Ontario, Rob is a father of four, hockey player, fishermen, and world traveller. You can always count on Rob for the latest news, both fish and current events.

Gregar Saxby

Business Development Representative

Gregar Saxby is the Account Manager for Canada and Europe, and probably knows the most languages out of everyone at our office. Prior to Tradex, Gregar did Marine Biotechnology, specializing in Sustainable Aquaculture, Quality Assurance, and Product Development.

Originally from Boston, Gregar attended the University of Victoria before deciding to move back to the city to raise his family. Definitely an expert in his field, Gregar is the author of two international patents in Marine Biotechnology.

Tom Prette

Business Development Representative

Tom Prette is our resident expert on Haddock, Pollock, and Cod, bringing over 25 years of seafood retail experience to Tradex Foods in May 2016. Hailing from Victoria, Tom has never left, unless it’s when his flights are to Mexico, Hawaii, Dominican, or Kelowna.

A father of four, Tom is an avid autograph collector and Toronto Maple Leafs fan – if you find an autographed Dave Keon puck, you know who to call!

Adam Spence

Business Development Representative

Adam Spence joined our Sales team in September 2016 as an Account Manager, after a successful career as an Investment Consultant.

Born in Vancouver, Adam moved to Victoria with his parents when he was just a toddler. We’re willing to bet that Adam is the only guy you know that can ride a unicycle!

Nathan Brown

Business Development Representative

Nathan Brown is a member of our Sales Team at Tradex Foods, after more than five years in our Administration and logistics department.

Nathan moved to Victoria B.C. in 2012 to have his children grow up in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Nathan comes from a family that has been providing high quality food products for over 75 years!

Sherry Rand

Logistics & Administration Manager

Sherry Rand is the Logistics & Administration Manager at Tradex Foods. Since April 2002, Sherry’s bubbly personality has kept the administration department running smoothly with her vast wealth of knowledge.

Originally from Quesnel B.C., Sherry was an esthetician before beginning her logistics career. Sherry’s family was transferred to Victoria when she was 3, for her father’s RCMP job. It’s great that Sherry lives in downtown Victoria because she can walk to all of our local craft breweries.

Kyla Ganton

Logistics and Inventory Control Coordinator, Seafood News Producer

Kyla Ganton is our Logistics and Inventory Control Coordinator, and produces our weekly Market Insight videos. Before she began cycling to Tradex in August 2013, Kyla completed the Bachelor of Commerce program at UVic and worked for the Federal Government.

Originally from Victoria, B.C., it would seem that Kyla prefers to stay close to home, but she has actually traveled a lot of the world and lived in Europe twice.

Vancouver Team

Sean Shi

Export Manager - Asia Operations

Sean joined our Vancouver sales team in September 2017, bringing 10 years of commodity trading with him. Sean was born in China and speaks three languages, and stayed in Winnipeg for 8 years before moving to Vancouver in 2009.

With both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree, Sean frequently proves he is an avid and quick learner. In his free time, he enjoys golfing and hiking with his wife and two children.

Maria Filipczak

Quality Control Manager

Maria joined our Vancouver team in April 2018, bringing over 20 years of experience in the Fishing Industry with her. Originally from Poland, Maria speaks four languages!

Looking for a warmer place than Edmonton, Maria made the move over to Vancouver. Maria enjoys baking and “specializes” in French Macarons (which we can testify to, they are amazing).

Thomas Chang

Business Development Representative

Thomas joined our Vancouver Sales Team in November 2018, bringing enthusiasm and sales experience to the office. After completing a BBa at SFU, Thomas has worked in sales in industries ranging from electrical cables, to promotional products, and seafood.

Born in Burnaby, Thomas has lived in British Columbia his entire life – it would take a lot for him to move anywhere away from this beautiful province. An animal love since a child, Thomas lives with his 6lb male Chihuahua name Kimchi, who also loves to eat seafood!

Qingdao Team

Chris Liu

VP of Asia Operations

Chris Liu is our Vice President of Operations in Asia. After over 10 years at Tradex Foods, Chris is a cultured expert and has a sharp eye for international trade. Previous to Tradex, Chris worked for Pacific Andes in Qingdao, China.

Born in Heilongjiang, Chris has moved around China, eventually settling in Qingdao. He enjoys taking vacations with his wife and son, and sometimes the accuracy of his jump shot is 80% in a basketball game.

Sandy Wang

China Office Administrator

Sandy Wang is the Office Administrator in our China Office and our vice for all imports from Asia. Sandy has been with Tradex since 2010. Prior to her work for us, she worked as an Account Executive at Pacific Andes.

Originally from Zaozhuang in the Shandong province of China, Sandy really enjoys travelling.

Annie Miao

Business Representative

Annie joined our team in the Qingdao office on November 2016, after working as an Export Manager at a large seafood processing company.

Born in Binzhou City in the Shandong Province, Annie later moved to Qingdao in 1999 to study and begin her career. When outside of the office, Annie likes to travel with her family and listen to music.

Mike Wang

Quality Management Supervisor

Mike Wang is our Quality Manager Supervisor within our China Operations. Mike is extremely hardworking and has been loyal to Tradex since 2007. Originally from Qingdao, Mike was an inspector at SGS, a very reputable firm in the seafood industry.

Mr. Wang is one of the core reasons that all of our customers get the highest quality seafood.

Yu Shuang Xiang

Quality Control Technician

Miss Yu is one of our Quality Control Technicians within our Asia Operations team. She was working in Quality Control in the Shandong province prior to her beginning with Tradex in 2006. Miss Yu is from Yantai and enjoys playing badminton and mountain climbing.

Yang Xue Hong

Quality Control Technician

Miss Yang is one of our Quality Control Technicians in our Asia Operations team. Since 2010, Miss Yang has been a valuable member of our Quality department, ensuring only the best products reach our customers.

Hailing from Weihai in the Shandong province, Miss Yang enjoys reading. Prior to her service with Tradex, she was in QC at Wanyou Food Co.

Zheng Hua

Quality Control Technician

Ms. Zheng joined our Inspection Team in our Qingdao China office in September 2016. Before coming to Tradex, Ms. Zheng was a QC manager for 20 years, so she brings a wealth of knowledge with her.

Originally from Dalian City, Ms. Zheng now enjoys doing sports and swimming in Qingdao.

Xiumei Zhang

Quality Control Technician

Ms. Xiumei Zhang joined our Chinese Inspection team in October 2017 as a QC Inspector after working as a QC Manager and Production Manager at a large seafood processing plant.

Originally from Linyi in the Shandong province, Ms. Zhang loves reading the also doing sports.

Xiao Dan Zhang

Quality Control Technician

Ms. Xiao Dan Zhang joined Tradex in October 2017 as a QC Inspector in our Qingdao China office. Previously, Ms. Zhang was a QC Manager at a major seafood processing plant.

Originally from Dandong in the Liaoning province, Ms. Zhang enjoys listening to music, travelling, and also climbing.
