Tradex Voluntarily Terminates QMPI

After careful consideration, Tradex Foods has decided to voluntarily terminate our Quality Management Program Import (QMPI) License.

Tradex enrolled in QMPI - a voluntary quality assurance program with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency - in January 2011. During this time Tradex found that the benefits of the program were not sufficient enough to make the program worthwhile. A large portion of Tradex' business is in commodity trading and we were therefore required to do numerous first-time inspections for new suppliers. This was extremely cumbersome and as a result it negatively impacted our customer service. We feel that having a regular import license enables the Tradex Logistics Team to better serve our customers.

Moving forward, we expect our commodity business to continue and it was therefore determined that QMPI is not a good fit for our company.
