Timing of Supply & Pricing Opportune for Ocean Pink Shrimp (Pandalus jordani) & Squid Categories

Dec 19th, 2022 - Our pulse on the market suggests that it could be a very opportune time to make a push on West Coast (Pandalus jordani) Shrimp and Squid categories with harvest and pricing at a potential sweet spot.

TradexLive
--- It was another great season for the MSC Certified West Coast Pink Shrimp fisheries with over 65 million pounds landed from Oregon and Washington state.

Oregon saw a third consecutive 40 million pound year harvest, while Washington saw a second consecutive 20 million pound season.

With an abundant supply of new and previous season inventory - combined with good pricing, we feel there is a tremendous opportunity right now on this product.

--- California Market Squid landings have skyrocketed to over 91 million pounds since November with over 3 months still remaining in the season.

Ex-vessel pricing has been steady all year, however this could all change if or when China processing fully opens back up from the loosening of zero-COVID policies.

Squid plants in China are said to have been producing at low volumes for a while now, and are seeking new orders to keep the plants running.

One of the more popular squid forms is Tubes and Tentacles and pricing is currently lower than the same time last year.

Our recommendation is to take advantage of the timing of this - contact Tradex Foods for more information.
