Marine Stewardship Council

The Marine Stewardship Council operates a certification and eco-labeling program for sustainable seafood.

In an industry that lacks a universal certification scheme - MSC is recognized globally for its sustainable fishing and seafood traceability standards.

MSC is a non-profit organization whose core function is to contribute to the health of the worlds' oceans by:

• recognizing and rewarding sustainable fishing practices
• influencing the choices people make when buying seafood
• working with partners to transform the seafood market to a sustainable basis

Ocean Wise

Ocean Wise - a Vancouver Aquarium Conservation Program strives to educate and empower consumers about issues surrounding sustainable seafood.

Ocean Wise works directly with restaurants and markets - ensuring they have current scientific information and helping them make ocean-friendly buying decisions.

The Ocean Wise symbol is quickly becoming well-recognized as an indicator of environmentally friendly seafood items in restaurants – fish markets and food service outlets across Canada.

National Fisheries Institute

The National Fisheries Institute is the US's largest advocacy organization for the seafood industry.

This non-profit organization strives to educate consumers and to promote free trade and sustainable ocean management.

NFI members include those spanning the entire supply chain – from fishermen to distributers.

A common goal is to eliminate economic fraud.

Fisheries Council of Canada

The Fisheries Council of Canada is the voice of Canada's fish and seafood industry.

The Council is a non-profit organization of like-minded fisheries and seafood associations and enterprises that support shared - fundamental principles. FCC strives to develop an economically sound, market-driven and competitively-structured industry that provides opportunities for future generations.

FCC has over 100 member companies from coast to coast who are engaged in growing, harvesting, processing and marketing fish and seafood.
