--- Production capacity for Frozen Pollock Fillet Production in China continues to tighten as orders pile up before Chinese New Year. High demand has even forced some larger Plants to stop taking orders before the annual closures in January. Finished goods typically leave the facilities within a week of production during the busy season so inventories are LOW. Price points globally are around $1.40 / lb CNF European Main Ports for twice frozen IQF Pollock fillets, down about 5 percent last year this time at just below $1.50 / lb. Domestically, twice frozen IQF Pollock Fillet pricing ranges from as low as $1.15 / lb to $1.30 / lb in Los Angeles. --- As for sizing, Raw materials from Russia are landing predominately between 20cm and 25cm long, which works down to a 2-4oz skinless boneless fillet. As a result, for several months now many suppliers are having problems offering the larger sizes like 4-6oz. 6-8oz fillets will have to be sourced from Alaskan raw materials, where inventories are almost depleted. --- The next scheduled fishery for Alaska will begin in the first week of September, where H&G production will be a focus for many Alaskan suppliers. Depending on the size of raw materials, we could see some fillet production. As mentioned, larger sizes are almost nonexistent, but spot buys of IQF or Shatterpack Alaska Pollock fillets can be found at $1.85/lb FOB Seattle. Our advice to buyers is to keep a keen eye on larger fillets and prepare early for your Lenten usages as production capacity will only get tighter in the months to come. --- And finally, Our TradexLIVE offer of the week is for 4oz IQF SINBAD GOLD Pollock Loins. These are skinless/boneless, chem-free, 2016 production, with 2,000 lbs available in LA for $1.95 / LB USD. Sinbad GOLD is our newest flagship brand.
