5-7oz Swai (Pangasius) fillets, A product that used to be $1.50/lb early last year, is now $3.00 per pound, and are forecasted to strengthen a further five to ten cents in the coming months. 
Many buyers are seeking alternatives and we have insight that Pollock is one of the main substitutes on the table.
Consistent sizing and texture makes Pollock a great whitefish substitute for Swai (Pangasius).
Compared to other whitefish options, Pollock is by far the most steady in price and supply.
Pollock fillets are looking very desirable at between $1.15 and $1.20 per pound in LA.
We do expect Pollock pricing to strengthen by about 10 cents per pound by June as Russian raw materials are around $1220 - $1230 per metric tonne, up from $1020 in January.
As Atlantic Cod loins are anticipated to reach $3.55 in July and Pacific Cod approaching a striking $3.70 next month, the market is desperate for more affordable whitefish options.
Pollock imports were steady throughout last Fall and this Spring. We have seen a slight dip this month but believe that this is due to Chinese New Year plant closures.
We anticipate Pollock imports to rise in the coming months as demand continues to strengthen from whitefish buyers.
